Washburn welcomes you to the annual Zombie Days weekend. This year you can enjoy A Nightmare on Bayfield St. The event takes place Oct 29th-31st.
Zombie Days is a family celebration of Halloween in the City of Washburn. Please contact the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce at 715-373-5017, if you need more information or if you have any questions.

2021 Schedule of Events & Activities:
**Pumpkin Carving Contest: Grab a pumpkin & get creative for the Washburn Hardware & Sport Pumpkin Carving Contest. There are 4 youth categories (funniest, scariest, cutest, or most complex) & an adult category (overall design) so everyone can participate! Pumpkins must be dropped off at the store on Oct. 28th from 10am-4pm. Pumpkins will be displayed from Oct. 28th – Oct. 30th. Each pumpkin MUST have a 2-inch hole drilled / carved out of the middle of the back for proper display lighting in the store and be accompanied by an index card with the following information written legibly on it or your pumpkin will not be eligible for display or judging:

Judging will take place on Saturday, Oct 30th at 4pm. Pumpkins MUST be picked up On Sunday the 31st before noon or they will be disposed of. Winners will be announced on the Washburn Hardware & Sport and Washburn Chamber Facebook Pages. Kids in need of a pumpkin can visit the Washburn Public Library starting on Oct. 26th to pick up a pumpkin & carving kit (supplies may be limited).
**Halloween Coloring Contest: Let’s add a little color to our celebration. Starting Oct. 4th stop by the Chamber, Brownstone Pharmacy, or Hansen’s IGA to pick up a coloring sheet. Return your masterpiece by Oct. 22nd to Brownstone Pharmacy for display & judging. Categories are 12 and under & 13 and older. Judging will take place the week of Zombie Days & winners will be announced on October 29th. Prizes can be picked up at the chamber the first week of November.
**Grim Grinning Ghost Hunt: Are you ready for a ghost hunt? From now until Oct. 25th, we encourage community members to hide a ghost or two in their front facing windows. Easy right? These can be a simple cut out from paper or as creative as you want. Small ghosts, large ghosts we want to see them all. Then from October 26th through Halloween get out and go on a ghost hunt! Count how many ghosts you can find in your neighbor’s windows. How many will you find throughout the city?
**Spookiest House & Business Decorating Contest: Decorate your home or business for Zombie Days! To participate email us at least one picture of your property along with your name, address and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday Oct. 22nd. Be sure to tell us if you are entering a residence or business. Judging will take place the week of Zombie Days (Between Oct. 25th and 28th) & winners will be announced on Friday Oct. 29th. A map will be created of all entries and shared on the Chamber website and Washburn Chamber Facebook Page for all to check out your hard work. Winner of the residential contest will win a Stay & Play Package from Legendary Waters Resort & Casino. The business winner will get $50 off their 2022 Chamber membership. **Zombie/Halloween Trivia Night: Head over to ScareCrow Pizza, Thursday October 28th for a fun night of trivia. Get a team together if you dare. Check in starts at 6:30pm. Trivia starts at 7pm.
**Halloween Treat Bake Off: Show off your baking skills. Choose from two categories – Fall or Halloween treats. Entry Forms are available at the Chamber office. There is a fee for each entry – $10 for adult and $5 for youth. All proceeds go to Homecoming. Drop entries off at Chamber on Friday, October 29th from Noon-4pm. Judging will take place on Saturday the 30th at 2pm. Treats will then be sold at the bake sale during the Howl in Horror Show on Sunday night. All proceeds from the entry fees and bake sale will go to Homecoming 2025.
**A Nightmare on Elm Street Movie Night: Come help us kick off Zombie Days Weekend by watching the classic 1984 version of A Nightmare on Elm Street (Rated R) at The Club starting at 8:30pm on October 29th. Bring your pillows an blankets and sit on the gym floor to watch the movie inside. Brought to you by the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce & Midland Services. This is a FREE event but a suggested donation of $5 per person is appreciated. All money goes to The Club. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
**Washburn Lion’s Club Trick-or-Treating: The Washburn Lions Club will be handing out treat bags as part of Zombie Days at The Club. We are asking families to use Central Avenue to pick up their treat bag from 2pm until gone on October 30th.
**Live Music by Jakeleg & Otis – October 30th from 7-9pm at the South Shore Brewery Tap House.
**Zombie Escape Room Experience: Join our guides as they take you through a quarantined zombie hospital. Can you make it out alive? This event takes place Saturday Oct. 30th from 7pm-10pm and Sunday the 31st from Noon – 3pm at the old hospital building at 320 N Superior Ave. Cost is $10 per person, groups of 4-6 encouraged, but smaller groups or singles will be combined to make a full group. Reservations can be made at the chamber of commerce during office hours. Spots will only be held with full payment. There will be 6 slots each day. Brought to you by the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce, ScareCrow Pizza, Bayfield County Tourism & Birch Haven North.
**Howl in Horror Show: Ending the weekend with a bang! Come to The Club for live performances by Carnage the Executioner, Gladiator, Fishlicker Improv, Scott Keever, & Adara Din. Show Starts at 5pm. Expect live music, dancing, improv and a bake sale. Brought to you by the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce, ScareCrow Pizza, Harbor House Sweets & The Club.
