Driftwood Cottage is tucked in the small quiet town of Washburn Wisconsin, nested between the Chequamegon National Forest and Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay. Just recently renovated using red oak hardwood flooring and whitewashed reclaimed cedar ceilings, this immaculate 1,500 square foot, 3 bedroom cozy cottage is full of charm and quirky vintage decor. In the fully stocked kitchen you will find white carrera marble counter tops, northwood birch kitchen cabinets, and a beautiful built-in breakfast table nook. Other special highlights include a unique living room pallet wall made from reclaimed hardwoods where you can relax and put your feet up after a long day exploring the great outdoors. Access to Netflix on the flat screen TV is provided for those cozy nights you want to spend indoors! Enjoy gathering around the stunning antique dining room table for supper where afterwards you will find a cupboard stocked with dozens of board games and puzzles. The cottage is equipped with a washer and dryer for your convenience as well as plenty of hooks for beach towels, ample closet space, and shelving for your gear and personal items. In each of the 3 cozy bedrooms you will find all that you need for a fantastic nap or full night of sleep: comfortable mattresses and pillows, fluffy down-comforters, soft quilts, and luxurious sheets. Sleeps 6. Come stay and relax…you’re on lake/trail time!
Our nearly one acre property has an outdoor patio complete with a comfortable wrought iron dining table and seating for 6. Or, relax in the small sitting area under the shady Northern Cypress trees where you can watch the squirrels play while enjoying your early morning coffee. If ATVing is your passion you can access ATV routes and trails directly from our property. In the evening you can build a cozy bonfire next to the wildflower pollinator field which attracts a variety of bees, birds, and butterflies. Even if it rains, our indoor patio is the perfect space to curl up with a good book and watch the whitetail deer come to feed from our crabapple tree at dusk.
Just a short walk into town, you can enjoy several local eateries offering wood fired pizza, irish scotch eggs, locally caught fish fry, homemade seasonal soups, and fresh baked breads. We even have a local brewery with a tasting room. While in town, enjoy the Washburn walking trail which stretches along 1.34 miles of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay shorelines. Here you will discover 3 sandy beaches where you can look for beach glass and driftwood, or just simply watch the sunset. This is also a perfect place to fill up your water bottle from the artesian well, put your sea kayak in the water and take in the views of sandstone cliffs. Make sure to stop by our town’s quaint shops including sweets, local art, antiques, books, local pottery, and handmade jewelry just to name a few.
Winter in our area is something you will never forget with plenty of snow packed trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking and biking, and snowmobiling. Directly from our property you can access the snowmobile trailhead, just blocks away. Here you can explore over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and forest roads which take you through the Chequamegon National Forest trails as well as the famous Tristate corridor trail system. Don’t forget to try out snowshoeing in our local nature center located just outside of town. When the bay here on Lake Superior freezes over it’s time for ice fishing, hiking the trails, and fat tire cycling to see the ice caves. Driftwood Cottage is ideally located to enjoy all four seasons of northwoods and lake life during your vacation. Truly your home away from home in quiet Washburn Wisconsin.
