October 18, 2024

An empowerment workshop for women and those who identify as women. Friday Oct 18th at The Club from 9am-3pm.

Jesse Dykhuis and Kathleen Adee have worked as organizers and advocates for workers and women’s rights for over two decades. During that time they have seen competent, smart, independent women oftentimes defer to louder voices in the room. This has left them frustrated and vowing to do it differently the next time. But it’s hard if you haven’t had practice. This professional development opportunity will give women and those who identify as female the skills to flip the script, next time.

Join us for a day of learning, sharing, contemplating, and action-oriented skill development.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration is $20 per person and includes: Coffee, lunch and a goodie bag.

Kathleen Adee began her career as an Early Childhood Educator in 1988. She and her teaching partner developed the Washburn PreK program in 1993. After several successful years as an educator, she sought out a new professional challenge. In 2005, she accepted a new role working as a union advocate for educators. In that role, she provided a wide range of services to educators, from professional development opportunities to advocating at the State Capitol for the school’s students, staff, and communities to engaging with school boards and administrators on behalf of those she represented. Kathleen retired in 2023 and is pursuing interests that excite her.

Jesse Dykhuis, RN RYT200  is a lifelong activist with a career that includes birth work, Planned Parenthood and now Minnesota’s Teachers Union.  Jesse grew up in WI and now calls Duluth MN home.  Jesse is a yoga teacher and a teacher in the yoga teacher training program with her area of focus being trauma conscious yoga and body acceptance work.  Jesse is currently pursuing her certifications in Sacred Counsel Guide work and Forest Therapy Guide work.  Empowering women is the through line in her journey.  Jesse and her dog Lena can most likely be found on the Superior Hiking Trail somewhere singing to the mushrooms and dancing in the ferns.
