No, the city of Washburn is in Bayfield County. Washburn County is about 86 miles South West of Bayfield County and although it is beautiful, they do not get to enjoy Lake Superior like we do.

No, these campgrounds are owned by the City of Washburn. They are run on a first come first served basis. You can find more information about camping in Washburn and the surrounding area HERE.

There is no official open date for the ice caves and ice formations in the area. The Caves off of Mayer’s Beach are regulated by the Park Service and they determine if they are safe to access or not. There are some ice formations off the coast of Washburn but they are visit at your own risk. You can find more information about the local ice caves HERE.
