Washburn Halloween Town is a family friendly celebration of Halloween that starts on Oct. 1st and runs through Halloween.

You are invited to celebrate Halloween ALL month long during the Washburn Halloween Town Celebration.

Washburn Halloween Town is a family friendly celebration of Halloween in the City of Washburn that starts on Oct. 1st and runs through Halloween. We hope you will come out and have some spooky fun with us as we count down to Halloween!

Halloween Coloring Contest

Let’s add a little color to our celebration. Starting Oct. 1st stop by the Chamber, or Hansen’s IGA to pick up a coloring sheet. Return your masterpiece by Oct. 29th to the chamber office for display & judging. There are 3 prize categories!

  • Child: 10 and under
  • Youth: 11-17
  • Adult: 18 and older

This year winners will be selected by peoples choice. Judging will take place on Oct. 30th. Stop by the chamber to cast your vote! Winners will be announced November 1st. Prizes can be picked up at the chamber the first week of November. The coloring contest is brought to you by the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce.

Classic Movie Night

A special Halloween edition of Classic Movie Night will take place at the Washburn Public Library basement on Tuesday, Oct. 14th Starting at 6pm. “Sorry, Wrong Number” is a tense 1948 thriller starring Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster. Homemade popcorn provided!

Trunk or Treat

Have some Halloween fun with the residents at Northern Lights Services, Oct 17th from 4-7pm. Bring the family for some early trick or treating. If you would like to decorate your trunk & pass out candy or need more information please call 715-373-6414. Northern Lights Services is located at 706 Bratley Drive in Washburn.

Free Halloween-Themed Baby & Toddler Music/Movement Class

Lynda Warren, “Zumba with Lynda” will be hosting a baby & toddler music/movement class at the Washburn Meditation Center from 9:30-10:15am on Oct. 19th. Please contact her directly for more information. Lyndamwarren@yahoo.com or 218-349-4078

Free Fall/Pumpkin Craft Event

Kiddiwink Kids will be hosting a FREE craft event at the Washburn Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 19th from 10am-12pm. Enjoy Pumpkin painting & crafts. They will have sensory bins to play with as well.

Food Truck or Treat

Monday’s can be scary in Northern WI, when you’re hungry and most of the restaurants are closed for a much deserved break. But have no fear! On Monday, Oct 21st the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Food Truck or Treat event in honor of Washburn Halloween Town. Bring your appetites because we will have at least 5 food trucks from in and around the area ready to serve you for lunch from 11am-2pm and again for dinner from 4-7pm.

This is a rain or shine event! The food trucks will be set up on Central Ave. in Washburn between The Club and the Cultural Center. You can choose to enjoy your meal in Legion Park with music or you can take it home to enjoy. If the weather is not cooperating you can enjoy your meal inside The Club. Dress up and be entered into a drawing for Bay Bucks!

4th Annual Slashwabay Haunted Trail

This years trail will take place Oct 24-26th. If you are looking for a good time but not too scary you should visit between 5:30- 6:30pm. If you want a full on horrifying experience come from 6:30-9pm. Cost is $10 for 13+ and $5 under 12. All ages welcome more info at mtashwabay.org. Need a ride you can take the BART Bus from Ashland or Washburn, call 715-682-9664 for details and to reserve your spot.

Kiddiwink Kids Anniversary Celebration

Kiddiwink Kids is celebrating THREE YEARS in business with a free kids’ craft event and a HUGE store Sale!! Stop by the shop from 11am – 3pm on Saturday, October 26th. This event will be held outside rain or shine so dress for the weather!FREE crafts for kids include making a calming sensory jar and painting your own tree cookie! There will be free treat bags for the first 75 kiddos. Kiddiwink Kids is located at 108 W. Bayfield St. Washburn (next to the hardware store).

Halloween Town Parade

March with us down Washington Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 26th at 2pm for the Halloween Town Parade. The registration form for those who would like to be in the parade can be found HERE. You must turn in the completed form with the $5 entry fee by Thursday, Oct. 24th. We can not guarantee same day registration will be available.

Halloween Kiddie Carnival

The Washburn Lions Club will host their annual family-friendly Halloween party following the parade on Saturday, Oct. 26th at The Club. Stop by between 2:30-4pm for treats, & games.

Spooky Story Time

Join storyteller Tracy Chipman in the spooky basement of the Washburn Public Library Oct. 28th at 6pm for Old Bony Legs and the Haunted Graveyard – a collection of ghostly stories fresh from graveyards around the world!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Grab a pumpkin & get creative for the Washburn Hardware & Sport Pumpkin Carving Contest. There are 2 youth categories (scariest, cutest), an adult category (overall design) & NEW this year is the business category, so everyone can participate! Pumpkins must be dropped off at the store on Tuesday, Oct. 29th during business hours. Pumpkins will be displayed through Oct. 31st. Each pumpkin MUST have a 2-inch hole drilled / carved out of the middle of the back for proper display lighting in the store and MUST be accompanied by an index card with the following information written legibly on it or your pumpkin will not be eligible for display or judging:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Phone
  • Category you are entering

Judging will take place on Wednesday, Oct 30th. This will be a people choice vote! Stop by the chamber to cast your vote. Pumpkins MUST be picked up On Thursday the 31st before noon or they will be disposed of. Winners will be announced October 31st. There will be prizes for each category. The top three kids in each of the two categories will get a prize bag. The top two adults will win gift certificates from Wahburn Hardware & Sport ($25 1st place & $15 2nd place) and the 1st place business winner will win a $75 gift certificate for either 211 Martini Bar or Harbor House Sweets. Kids prizes can be picked up at the chamber the first week of November. Kids in need of a pumpkin can visit the Washburn Public Library on Oct. 25th starting at 1pm to pick up a pumpkin & carving kit (supplies may be limited).

The pumpkin carving contest is brought to you by Washburn Hardware and Sport & The Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Washburn Public Library.

Tick-or-Treating

Come to Washburn on Wednesday, Oct. 30th for Gate Night. This is when Trick-or-Treating takes place in Washburn.

Spooky Bingo

Spooky Bingo is back at the Sand Bar on October 30th from 6:30-7:30pm. Bingo cards are $2 each. Come in costume and get a FREE card. They play 5-7 rounds. There will be drink specials & fun prizes! Halloween fun. Come early for a bite to eat!
