BAYFIELD AREA TRAILS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL TRAILS DAY
June 7 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm

To celebrate National Trails Day, Bayfield Area Trails (BAT) will be sponsoring its third annual Trails Forum on Saturday, June 7 from 9:00 am to 12 noon at the Town of Bell Community Center in Cornucopia.
The doors will open at 9:00 with BAT partners from around the Bayfield Peninsula displaying maps, explaining future plans and answering questions informally. Refreshments will be available.
“If you enjoy the many benefits of walking or biking through some of the finest natural areas in Bayfield County, you may be surprised to learn of all the existing trail opportunities as well as upcoming plans for expanding the area’s network of trails,” said Kate Kitchell, BAT Chair.
Presentations will begin at 9:30 with a welcome by Kate Kitchell followed by the keynote speaker, Mike Passo, Executive Director of American Trails. His organization works to provide technical support for trail development and maintenance and to connect communities and people through accessible trail networks across the country.
Other program highlights will include updates about the Red Cliff Trails Study, including a Red Cliff to Bayfield trail, and the draft comprehensive Bayfield Peninsula Trails Plan which is being developed locally with help from the National Park Service’s Trails Assistance Program.
The presentations will conclude with a summary of upcoming BAT activities and projects and opportunities to get involved.
The morning will wrap up with optional interactive sessions that will include providing input on the Bayfield Peninsula Trails Plan, participating in ongoing trail user surveys, learning about the basics of trail maintenance and construction, and a roundtable with Mike Passo from American Trails.
For early risers, a pre-meeting guided birding walk will be offered at the Siskiwit River Preserve nearby starting at 7 am.
More details can be found on the Bayfield Area Trails website at this link. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
