Walking Trail

DOWN BY THE BAY

The Washburn Lakeshore Parkway and Walking Trail is a 1.34-mile non-motorized, moderate hiking trail with a packed limestone surface.  The parkway weaves along the beaches and bluffs of the lakefront, from Thompson’s West End Park and then winds its way through the Washburn Marina, past the ball park on Pumphouse Road, and finally through Memorial Park.

The first section of the trail is wheelchair accessible up to Washington Avenue with entrances at both ends. Historical markers dot the trail for light reading, quick breaks, and for the leisurely walker, while three beaches tempt swimmers on a sunny day.

Access to the trail may be obtained and parking available at the trail ends along 6th Avenue West, the foot of Washington Avenue, Marina Drive, and Central Avenue.
